Fire safety

BSR takes its responsibility for the health and safety of its sites very seriously. In line with the National Fire Chiefs Guidance, BSR implements the following across all of its sites:

  • A robust Emergency Response Plan specific to each site.
  • A minimum of 6 meters between BESS units to act as a fire barrier.
  • A comprehensive risk management process identifying specific hazards and risks, and developing, implementing, maintaining, and reviewing risk controls.
  • Sufficient water supply to deal with a potential fire, safely and effectively, with mitigations to the environmental impact of any run-off.

BSR has engaged Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service to discuss the proposal and will continue to work with them to ensure the design is suitable and safe.

The Fire and Rescue Service has referred us to the National Fire Chiefs Council (NFCC) guidance, which our designs are in line with.
